The Rattler is a bold, open and dynamic distortion pedal that channels the fat, creamy voice of classic early-'80s circuits through a custom discrete-component op-amp. It keeps the tube-like response players love while adding modern reliability, clickless switching and expanded control over clipping and midrange.

Choose original asymmetrical clipping or a new symmetrical option for two distinct saturation profiles. A separate Mid Boost footswitch places a custom-voiced enhancer before the distortion, adding focus and dimension without acting like a conventional volume boost. From vintage grind to singing saturation, the Rattler is built to stay articulate and authoritative.

Custom discrete op-amp
JAM pedals developed a proprietary discrete-component op-amp to preserve the open, dynamic and tube-amp-like feel associated with the discontinued LM308.

Two clipping voices
Top position selects original asymmetrical clipping. Bottom position selects symmetrical clipping for a different feel and compression profile.

Footswitchable Mid Boost
The left footswitch engages a mid boost before the distortion. An internal trimmer sets boost level; an internal DIP switch keeps the full low end or applies a low cut for a tighter sound.

Controls and startup

  • Level sets output, Gain sets saturation and Tone shapes the frequency response.
  • The Rattler and Mid Boost startup states can each be saved independently by reconnecting power while holding the corresponding footswitch.
