What the Rattler Bass Does

We created the Rattler Bass to capture the character and response of our original Rattler distortion, adjusted to preserve low-end definition and punch for bass guitar.

Inspired by the sound of the late ’80s ProCo RAT, the Rattler Bass delivers a rich, full-bodied distortion that works equally well for smooth sustain or aggressive grit—without sacrificing your low frequencies.

If you want a bass distortion that blends classic inspiration with a powerful, focused voice for the low end, the Rattler Bass is built for that.

About the "Achenbach Series":

John Achenbach is a Storyboard Artist and Animation Professional with a long history on the legendary show "The Simpsons" and a guitarist/musician. The "Achenbach Series" is the result of a loving friendship that has developed through the years out of mutual respect for what each of us does!

Here’s a short video of him talking about the story behind our collaboration:

Here's a little insider's look into his process for coming up with his designs, using the "Achenbach Series" Tubedreamer as an example:

"You just can’t beat nature. For inspiration, I researched the first amplifier tubes to design a JAM pedals character and found this Fleming tube from 1904. Then a friend recently posted a real pic of a virus under an electron microscope. Damn.. that’s freaky." John Achenbach

Designed by musicians, for musicians.

From vintage-inspired classics to boundary-pushing analog designs, each JAM pedal is crafted with care to inspire your sound and spark your creativity.
Designed by musicians, for musicians.

JAM pedals began in 2005, when guitarist and sonic explorer Jannis Anastasakis set out to build pedals that didn’t just sound good, they sounded alive. What started as a one-man workshop in Athens has grown into a passionate team of builders, artists, and musicians who still make every pedal by hand, one at a time.
